A New National Highway is All Set to Connect Bangalore

Image
The planned route will go via Rajakottai and Palacode and will help drivers skip Hosur town. Source: https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/nhai-plans-shorten-salem-bengaluru-route-25-kms-calls-tenders-120194 I don’t think it is " Rajakottai" , as mentioned in the article, but " Rayakottai"  along the Hosur-Dharmapuri road, which runs parallel to the Bangalore-Salem railway line from Hosur onwards. The below maps represent my idea of how the highway could be aligned. It may or may not be different from what the NHAI has planned. The above alignment could be considered as it passes through the vicinity of the upcoming DLI Integrated Logistics Park, Bangalore, near Anekal. A second alignment is also possible: In both the images, black lines indicate the stretch of the road that needs to be laid by acquiring land. I reiterate that the above images are just my thoughts and may be different from what the NHAI plans to implement.

Some Bits on the Divisions Under Indian Railways

I see a growing demand for the inclusion of the Coastal  Karnataka  under the SWR (not that it did not exist before, just that it wasn't as loud), which essentially requires the creation of a Mangalore division. Further, the current government hasn't really done anything about another demand for the Gulbarga division as well. Hyderabad  - South Central Zone Hyderabad Secunderabad ii.) Kolkata  - Eastern Zone Sealdah Howrah 3. Four zones cater to a single state Eastern  Railw

If the caption does indeed attract you, then read on. I am no civil engineer who is well aware of the nitty-gritty of building rail projects but just an ordinary Bangalorean who is concerned about the well being of my lovely city and its people. This article is more of a thought experiment if I can call it that. Please feel free to point out the mistakes in this as I am fully aware that it is not 100 percent accurate. The intention behind this blog is to present it as a suggestion to the Bangalore Comprehensive Mobility Plan. I may have committed mistakes as the blog is being written in a hurry without much consideration towards the presentation aesthetics. Bangaloreans needn't really be apprised of the potential that the rail-based mode of transport holds in the context of addressing the city's infamous traffic. While the metro project is heading in some direction, the suburban rail that the city is eagerly awaiting appears to be directionless. Considering the amount of m
